I am the mother of four amazing children, and step – mom to two more amazing children, and person to four fur-kids. I have the fortunate luxury of being married to my best friend. My family is my main source for encouragement and inspiration. They support my crazy ideas and rarely discourage me from trying something new. 1Left of Center Designs would not be what it is today if it wasn’t for them. I owe my success to them.
My parents were both very talented and creative people. I have always been encouraged to try new things, and push the limits of my own creativity. I don’t remember ever being told I couldn’t do something (creative). It seems the motto was always “lets see what happens.” I still live by that philosophy today. You never know until you try.
I’ve been crafting as long as I can remember. I learned how to crochet when I was about 7 or 8 years old, but I was playing with paper, fabric, glue, and scissors way before that. Crafting is more than just my hobby. It’s kind of like a necessity – like eating. Maybe it’s an obsession. I don’t really know. I just know I would be thrilled to be able to make one new thing each day. I’m looking forward to when I can have craft time with my two youngest children. My workshop is already more interesting to them than their play room.
I have always enjoyed making things. It doesn’t really matter what it is, I just love creating. I tend to come up with unique and unusual ideas. My husband says I take thinking outside the box to a whole new level. I do not look at things for what they are, rather what they could be. I love to repurpose and upcycle. I love taking things apart and making something new from the parts. There are hidden treasures in the everyday things laying around, so I try to find them.
You will also find prose and photos along the way. I love to write, and I love photography, although I do not fancy myself a writer or photographer. I am me, and through this blog, you will learn about my business and watch as we grow, and you will get insights into my life outside my business.
